Makena House is a nomadic private membership club bringing together creatives from Africa and the diaspora. We exist to provide space for our global members to gather and appreciate the richness of art, culture, and community in each city we host in.
The first-ever Makena House experience will kick off in Cape Town, South Africa this December. Over two weeks, members from around the world will be hand-selected to join an intimate group of creative individuals currently making their mark in the worlds of fashion, beauty, music, art, marketing, film, and entrepreneurship.

Your membership fee is waved. Entry to the clubhouse, off site events, and all additional perks offered throughout the duration of the experience is free.

Up to 3 of your referred guests receive guaranteed membership. Your other referred guests are accepted at our discretion.

Who are the members?
Over the two week period, we will host 450 global members from Africa and the diaspora currently making their mark in fashion, beauty, music, art, marketing, film, and entrepreneurship. These are founders, executives, visual artists, musicians, writers, actors, and designers.
What is the criteria?
We consider a number of factors when evaluating prospective members. This includes, but is not limited to, their industry, impact they’ve made, who referred them, availability of the dates requested.
What do I have to do as a Founding Member?
Our expectation is that you will help us curate the community by inviting your friends to join as members. You will also need to be present at the clubhouse or one of our offsite events at least once.
How much is membership?
Membership is free to all Founding Members. For all other members, membership fees start at $500 for 5 day access to the clubhouse and events. Members can select to purchase memberships for 10 days or the full 16 days for a discounted rate. Additional fees may be charged for off site events.
Do the people I invite pay?
Yes, every person that Founding Members invite will need to pay a membership fee upon acceptance. Only members will have access to our clubhouse, there will be no guest allowed.
Anything ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?
By becoming a Founding Member, you’re granting Makena House the rights to list you as a Founding Member on our website & include your name & image in pitch decks shared with potential partners.

By joining as a Founding Member, you’re acknowledging that you will be in Cape Town between December 19, 2025–January 4, 2026 and able to attend one or more clubhouse or off site events.
Deadline to accept Founding Membership invitation is Thursday, July 10, 2025.
